Gerald Dewhurst made a single first-team appearance in the club's inaugural season in the Football League (1893-94).

His only chance came towards the end of that season in a home match with Crewe Alexandra on March 24, 1894.

Liverpool won the game 2-0 and went on to claim the Second Division championship without losing a single game.
