Earlier this month, Liverpool's Academy bolstered its under-18 squad with the signing of Icelandic attacker Kristjan Gauti Emilsson.
The 16-year-old joined the club from FH and made an immediate impact on his debut when he came off the bench to score the winner against Man United on Saturday.
In his first interview in English football, he tells Liverpoolfc.tv why he snubbed the overtures of some of the continent's top clubs to move to Kirkby and how he hopes to one day get the chance to play alongside Stevie G.
Kristjan, welcome to Liverpool Football Club. How does it feel to have joined the club's Academy?
It feels amazing to be here. It is a great honour for me to say I play for Liverpool FC.
How did the move to Kirkby come about?
First of all, I was asked to come here on trial. I was really excited and nervous at the same time. I must have done quite well because they asked me to sign and I was obviously really pleased about that.
I suppose being a Liverpool fan made it an easy decision to sign...
Yes, of course. I have been a Liverpool fan since the age of six, so it wasn't a difficult one. It's a really popular club in Iceland. All of the Reds' games are shown on TV. It's difficult to describe how big they are back home.
You're just 16 at the moment. How supportive were your family and friends in helping you make the move to England?
My family told me that it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. I was really pleased with how positive they were and I'm delighted to be here now.
You speak very good English, but how have you found Scouse?
It's not been easy to begin with, but I think I'm gradually coming around to it. I have picked up a few words from the lads. They've been really good to me and have been really welcoming.
How have you found the training methods here so far?
It's really different to back home. It's much harder here, but like the language, I'm getting to grips with it more and more. Rodolfo and the other coaches are great to work with.
We know you are a Liverpool fan - but have you been to any games yet?
Anfield is incredible. I went to the Fiorentina home game and the Tottenham one last week. The Spurs one is the best I have been to. I had been before, when I was 10 years- old. We played against Fulham. I haven't been in the Kop yet though. Hopefully I can do that soon.
Is there a player in the current Liverpool team that you are eager to meet or play alongside?
Yes, Steven Gerrard. I was always impressed by Michael Owen when I was little too.
You arrived from FH. How did you enjoy your time there?
I came through FH's ranks and have some great memories from my time there. I managed to play a few games for the first-team. It was difficult to leave, but I knew I needed to keep improving and Liverpool is a dream come true.
You've also been involved with your national team at under-17, under-18 and under-19 level...
Yes, it is a great honour for me to have played for my country.
Of course, you're not the only Icelandic starlet here at the club, there's also Victor Palsson. Do you know Victor?
Yes, I know him really well. He's been really supportive. He's showed me around town and we've been to the cinema and things like that. It's good to have someone who has taken a similar path here. He can give me advice. He spoke to me before I moved here.
He got to play with Steven Gerrard in a pre-season game back in the summer - did you speak to him about that?
Well I heard it on the news and was really amazed by it. I hope that one day in the future I can do the same thing.
And finally, for fans who are unfamiliar with your style, what kind of player are you?
I can play as a striker or just off the front. I am quite a creative player and I like to score goals too. But I want to keep improving and feel I'm in the best place to do that.
