Liverpool captain Gerrard will skipper the Three Lions as they welcome Moldova to Wembley on Friday, September 6 before travelling to Kiev to face Ukraine four days later.
England are currently second in World Cup qualifying Group H, trailing Montenegro by two points although they have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, new U21s coach Gareth Southgate has announced his first squad for the beginning of their U21 European Championship qualifying campaign against Moldova and Finland.
