Chelsea defender José Bosingwa today apologised for his rash challenge on Yossi Benayoun in the dying moments of Liverpool's 2-0 victory on Sunday.
The Portuguese full-back was seen kicking his opponent in the back - though the incident was not spotted by referee Mike Riley.
Blues boss Phil Scolari admitted afterwards that it deserved a red card.
Bosingwa told the official Chelsea website: "I apologise for what I did and it was never my intention to hurt him. I know it was wrong and I apologise."
