Gerard Houllier has insisted he isn't concerned by Chelsea's new found ability to splash the cash in the transfer market
Gerard Houllier has insisted he isn't concerned by Chelsea's new found ability to splash the cash in the transfer market.
Backed by new owner Roman Abramovich, the London outfit are now in the top league when it comes to competing for the world's best players and they haven't been slow to bolster last season's squad following the well publicised Russian takeover.
But Houllier remains confident that his young squad can continue to compete at the top of English football.
He said: "We understand the money seems to be big in other clubs at the moment but here we have talent and we have spirit.
"Our team has a very young average age, with our top players 23 or 24. We also have a great attitude. The team building is good and if we work hard we will be alright.
"Chelsea are changing the face of the game at the moment. The money they are spending will benefit other clubs, who will also have something to spend."
