Jamie Carragher reflected on Liverpool’s last-gasp despair in Lyon and declared: 'It's hit us hard - but we're not out yet.'
Lisandro Lopez's goal after 90 minutes cancelled out Ryan Babel's stunning strike to secure qualification for the home side and ensure Liverpool's Champions League destiny is now out of their own hands.
The Reds are now relying on Lyon earning a result at Fiorentina in their next game, while they must also win their own remaining two matches if they are to stand a chance of a place in the knock-out stages.
"We can still do it," said Carragher. "We have been in tough positions before and pulled through and we have to keep believing. A draw doesn't mean we're out of it, but a win would have been great.
"We have to keep going, win our next two games and see what happens. If we don't get through it won't be the end of the world. The team will go on, Liverpool will still go on.
"After Ryan Babel scored a great goal we expected to see it out, but it didn't happen. We had a few chances in the match and in some ways it was a typical European away performance from us. It's disappointing at the end but we can be pleased with the way we played."
