Andrea Dossena has described his time at Anfield 'as a great experience' but hopes to show the Travelling Kop his true worth when Napoli lock horns with Liverpool tonight.
The left-back returned to Italy in January after making just 31 appearances for the Reds.
Despite a lack of success on the pitch, he admits he enjoyed his spell on Merseyside and is relishing the chance to take on his former teammates at the Stadio San Paolo.
"These are the matches you seek out in the fixture list and I cannot wait for the opening whistle," Dossena told the pre-match press conference.
"I want to point out that I had a good time in Liverpool, as it was a great life experience and I got to understand the culture.
"Unfortunately, at the time I was unable to show my true worth. Napoli gave me this opportunity.
"Now I can show Liverpool who had chosen me, who the real Andrea Dossena is. I'll hug my former teammates and friends I still have among the Reds, but then it's a crucial game that sends fire down my veins."
