Martin Kelly believes there is no-one better for him to learn from than Jamie Carragher - and revealed how he'd love to emulate the vice-captain's career.
Like Carra, Kelly can operate at both full-back and in the centre of defence and admits he learns something new everyday from working alongside the Kop idol at Melwood.
"Carragher has been a massive amount of help to me," Kelly told Liverpoolfc.tv. "He is so dedicated to the game of football and knows so much about it.
"In training every day, you learn something different from Jamie. No matter what you're doing, he's always helping you and it's great for a young lad like me because I need to learn as much as I can at this level to progress.
"Having players like him, who know so much about the game and have done so much for the club, make it just brilliant to play with him.
"The things he's done at this club, I'd love to have a career like his. Obviously it's definitely down to his hard work - he gives 100 per cent in training every day - but I'd love to be like him."
It's this dedication and knowhow that Kelly believes would make Carragher an excellent manager when he finally decides to hang his boots up.
"I think he definitely has all the attributes, but I don't think he'd settle for anyone who doesn't work hard in his team," he said.
Kelly graduated to Melwood from the Academy in the summer of 2007 and has since gone on to make three first-team appearances, including a highly-impressive performance against Lyon in the Champions League last October.
The 19-year-old added: "It's brilliant training with the first-team. It's what you live for.
"I've played football since I was a lad and I wouldn't swap this job for anything.
"Waking up in the morning and coming into training with all the star players, it's what you dream of."
