Jose Mourinho has insisted the result of tonight's Champions League clash between Liverpool and Chelsea will not make or break either side's European dreams for this season.
Both teams go into the Anfield clash on the back of victories in their opening Group G encounters, and the Chelsea boss is adamant that tonight's outcome won't prove decisive.
He said: "Both teams are in a good condition after the first game. We are on three points each already and if you get to nine points then you will qualify for the next phase.
"If we win tonight then fantastic, if we draw it's not bad and if we lose it's not a disaster.
"We both have to be careful though because the other teams in the group could make it difficult. Real Betis and Anderlecht have to play each other twice and if either side takes six points from those games then it means neither ourselves or Liverpool can sleep.
"It doesn't really matter if you come first or second in the group. We finished first last season and had to play Barcelona in the next round. Finishing first doesn't mean you get an easy game next time. Who would you rather face from Juventus and Bayern Munich's group in the next round, for example?"
Mourinho is expecting another close contest this evening as his Chelsea side look to make amends for their semi-final exit last season.
He said: "All the games last year were close and I expect it to be the same again tonight.
"I don't see either side winning three or four nil."
