Fulham captain Danny Murphy has warned his teammates Liverpool will arrive at Craven Cottage on Saturday brimming with confidence following last weekend's victory over Manchester United.
The former Reds midfielder admits he was impressed with the manner of the 2-0 win at Anfield - and believes the triumph could be the start of an unbeaten league run for Rafael Benitez's side.
"Liverpool tend to pull out big performances when the chips are down, and it was a fantastic effort to beat a strong Manchester United team on Sunday," said Murphy.
"It was considered a must-win game for the club and they went in surrounded by a huge amount of pressure.
"The result was great for them and great for the Premier League. It wasn't the most exciting game to watch in terms of spectacle, but Liverpool did what needed to be done.
"It may well be the confidence-booster they need to string a run of results together, and start applying pressure to the other sides at the top of the table.
"When they play at their best they will always highlight weaknesses in their opponents. They pressurise teams on the ball and deny them time to play, and that is exactly what they did at the weekend."
Murphy made 249 appearances for Liverpool during his seven-year spell at Anfield - and the 32-year-old developed a unique penchant for scoring crucial goals against United.
"The Merseyside and Manchester derbies are special for the fans, but I think there is no better feeling than turning over your rivals in a Liverpool-United game," he said.
"I managed to score for Liverpool in three wins against United, and each time it was one of the highlights of my season. It was a wonderful feeling to contribute to the win and having the fans' incredible support behind us made it even more special."
