Rafael Benitez believes Liverpool fans made '100 per cent' the right decision in voting Pepe Reina as their Player of the Season for 2009-10.
The Spaniard clinched the accolade after securing 75 per cent of the vote in our online poll - and the boss is convinced it's fully deserved.
Asked if the supporters got it right, Benitez simply replied: "Yes. 100 per cent."
Reina has firmly established himself amongst the world's top goalkeepers since arriving on Merseyside from Villarreal in the summer of 2005, sending a number of long-standing Anfield records tumbling in the process.
His clean sheet in Sunday's goalless draw with Hull City ensured he shared the prestigious Barclays Golden Glove award with Chelsea's Petr Cech - the fourth time in five seasons Liverpool's custodian has won the honour.
Benitez continued: "Pepe was a very good signing. He was a player we needed to bring in because we wanted to improve in goal.
"He has been fantastic not only in terms of his performances this season, but also for three or four years in a row.
"Also his mentality and advice for other players mean he is an inspiration. Like Kuyt, he is always positive and happy."
Benitez feels Reina's concentration and focus are two of a number of qualities that help set him apart from other goalkeepers.
"Pepe is a 'keeper for a top side because he can not be involved in a game, but then can still make great saves because he is always focused and concentrated," said the boss. "If there are one or two situations in a game, he is ready."
Reina recently committed his long-term future to Liverpool with the signing of a new six-year deal.
Benitez added: "It was really important. He is a modern goalkeeper who can play outside of the box too. He is more of a sweeper than a 'keeper - but if you need him to be a 'keeper, he is one of the best."
