Rafael Benitez has revealed how a chat with Yossi Benayoun could yet inspire the Israeli star to enjoy a late season hot-streak.
The Reds midfielder netted his first goal of 2010 when he converted the opener in Monday's 3-0 win over West Ham and the boss admits he has spoken to the no.15 about being more selfish in front of goal.
"We have spoken about Yossi scoring more in the past," Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"In the last few games he has been passing and looking to create things for his teammates, but I told him that he has to finish and score more goals. So, Monday was a good example of what he can do."
A clinical strike from David Ngog and an own goal from Robert Green put the seal on what Benitez feels is a morale-boosting victory ahead of Thursday's Europa League semi-final clash away to Atletico Madrid.
"To start the week by scoring goals and getting a victory is really positive," he said. "It is good for the confidence of the players.
"It's always important to have more players threatening to score goals because it makes life more difficult for opposition defenders. If you have four or five players that can score goals it can only be good for the team."
The boss also revealed that he has no new injury concerns ahead of the showdown at the Vicente Calderon.
"We don't have any new problems. Hopefully everyone will be fine," he added.
"Kelly, Aurelio, Skrtel, Insua and Torres are all still out injured."
