Saturday's transfer speculation

Not a day goes by without Liverpool being linked to the purchase of new signings and today is no exception, as we have five transfer speculation stories for you to read in our What the Papers Say section.

We are constantly being linked with new players but remember in the summer of 2001 when we were linked with 150-plus players! That just gives you a little taster of the wild rumours that are associated with transfers. Today we are being heavily linked with Joe Cole, Damien Duff and a new one in the frame is French international midfielder Benoit Pedretti who plays for Socheaux. Chris Bascombe from the Echo argues that the best signings would be new deals for Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard.
