Jay Spearing has warned opposition defences that Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll are going to get even better after the duo played a leading role in the 3-1 Carling Cup win at Exeter City.
Liverpool's No.7 scored the opener and created the other two goals, while Carroll netted a brilliant first strike of the season.
"The movement Luis has is unreal," said Spearing.
"You know what you are going to get from him in every game, whether it be a Barclays Premier League game or a Carling Cup tie.
"He was brilliant again for us. He makes our job easier and if he keeps doing that for the rest of the season then I think him and Andy are going to cause defenders and teams a lot of problems.
"We were all happy to see Andy score. Any striker needs that first goal of the season to get themselves going and it will give Andy a lot of confidence going into Saturday's game with Bolton."
The midfielder made his first start of the season and played the full 90 minutes as Kenny Dalglish's side were comfortable winners at St James Park.
He said: "We said the Carling Cup is important to us this season and we showed that at Exeter with the team we had out. It's a squad game and I thought we all did our part.
"They started well and put us under a little bit of pressure in the first 15 to 20 minutes but once we started passing the ball around like we know we can do I thought we caused them a lot of problems.
"When we went 3-0 up we took out foot off the pedal a little bit when they got the penalty but I think it's job done tonight and we are pleased to be through to the next round.
"I was delighted to get the full 90 minutes and hopefully I've showed the manager I'm ready and raring to go when he needs me again."
