Chelsea and Liverpool are both reportedly pursuing Porto defender Jorge Fucile.
The 27-year-old operates predominantly as a full-back, but is also able to perform competently in midfield as and when required.
It was claimed last week that Liverpool were monitoring Fucile as Kenny Dalglish considers bringing defensive reinforcements to Anfield during the transfer window.
Chelsea, though, are now alleged to have joined Liverpool in the race for the £6 million-rated Uruguayan, with Andre Villas-Boas having managed Fucile during his time at Porto.
But, according to Metro, Fucile is a 'long-term admirer' of Liverpool boss Dalglish, which could tip the balance in the favour of the Reds.
