The agent of former Manchester United star Diego Forlan has opened the door for the Uruguayan to quit Atletico Madrid by admitting that the Europa League winner is available this summer.
Forlan has been linked with a move to big spending Manchester City and Liverpool, and the news that the former Red Devil could be tempted away from the Vicente Calderon stadium will alert the Premier League pair.
Forlan, 31-years-old, spent two years at Manchester United between 2002 and 2004, appearing on 97 occasions and scoring 17 goals for the Red Devils to become a cult hero at the club after taking eight months to net his first goal. Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is a confirmed admirer of the player with the Reds being linked with a move for the forward in the last two transfer windows, while big spending Manchester City have been suggested as another interested party.
Forlan, has been in tremendous form for Atletico Madrid this term, scoring 18 goals in the league, dumping Liverpool out of the Europa League with a late strike at Anfield, as well as netting twice to beat Roy Hodgson's Fulham in the final. Manchester City and Liverpool will be alerted to the forward's availability having monitored the player's situation over the last few months. Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo did issue a hands off warning following the side's defeat in the Cop del Rey to Sevilla, however his comments are unlikely to deter offers from interested clubs.
The agent of Diego Forlan Fatih Ozel told Sport.co.uk that the Uruguayan is available this summer at the right price:
"Forlan can leave this summer. But, it depends on the club, the offer, and the market at the time. It is too early to say on this one, but he can leave the club if the offer is right."
