According to the Daily Mail, Alex McLeish will attempt to sign Ryan Babel from Liverpool, having failed to seal a deal to bring him to St Andrews in January.
Birmingham City reportedly had three bids rejected for Babel during the January transfer window, offering up to £10million. The 23-year-old looked certain to leave Anfield, having fallen out with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez. But, Babel put his disagreements behind him to perform well during the second half of the season.
The Dutch forward scored six goals in 33 games for Liverpool last season.
However, it appears that McLeish is considering taking advantage of the uncertainty at Anfield to sign Babel for £8million. It is unclear what effect Benitez's exit will have on Babel's future, while Birmingham may be able to secure his signature for less than they were prepared to pay in January due to the financial difficulties surrounding the Anfield club.
