Liverpool will have to pay Fiorentina £2 million to secure the January signing of goalkeeper Neto from Serie A outfit Fiorentina, report the Mirror, with Juventus having looked to arrange an agreement to sign the Brazilian on a free transfer when his contract with La Viola expires in the summer.
Whilst the Serie A champions would clearly be a big draw for Neto, he would face stern competition from the experienced Gianluigi Buffon for the number one spot, whilst Fiorentina are also likely to consider cashing in now if Liverpool do make a firm offer for the goalkeeper's services.
With Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones having collectively struggled to nail down the number one shirt at Anfield this summer, Neto is likely to feel that he can establish himself as first choice straight away if he does move to the club, potentially making Merseyside an attractive destination for the player.
Neto has already confirmed that he is not interested in extending his contract in Florence, another fact that indicates that Fiorentina may well be willing to cash in on him in January, with reports suggesting that as little as £2m should be enough to secure the 25 year-old Brazilian.
