Liverpool have made a proposal to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this summer, according to the player's agent.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a possible swoop for the Uruguay international as a direct replacement for his compatriot Luis Suarez who has left Anfield to join Barcelona.
Cavani had recently stated that he was happy to remain with the French Ligue 1 champions for this season, despite being played out of position at times by PSG coach Laurent Blanc in his first 12 months at the club following last summer's switch from Napoli.
However, it appears a deal could still materialise in the remaining three weeks of the transfer window as Cavani's agent, Claudio Annelluci, told the media in Uruguay of interest from England.
"There was much interest in the player during the past six months. I can confirm that Cavani has heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal," he said.
"He would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision. He is not interested in money and fame, he just wants to be happy playing football."
Meanwhile, Liverpool's hopes of taking prolific Colombia international hitman Radamel Falcao from Monaco look set to be scuppered by the player's desire to join Real Madrid.
