Liverpool are ready to move for Nuremberg striker Josip Drmic after the in-form hitman denied having already agreed to join Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has been one of the stars of the season in the Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals to help keep Der Altmeister's heads above water in the fight to avoid relegation.
The Switzerland international's goalscroing exploits have caught the eye of clubs in Germany and further afield, with Arsenal said to have agreed an £8million deal for the striker last week.
However, Drmic has since denied having an agreement in place to join the Gunners in the summer, opening the door for other interested parties.
Liverpool are thought to be one club keen to sign Drmic and could now make a move for him before the start of this summer's World Cup, after which his value is likely to sky rocket if he has a good tournament.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to add strength in depth to his squad ahead of a fight on two fronts next season and Drmic's ability to play out wide or through the middle makes him an interesting target.
Merseyside rivals Everton are also said to be interested, while German duo Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have been monitoring his progress closely.
