Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a new year move for Southampton attacker Adam Lallana.
The Saints star is in line to win his first England cap this week after being called up to Roy Hodgson's squad for the friendlies with Chile and Germany after a great start to the season for the south coast club, who have forced their way into the battle for a top four spot.
Reports claim Rodgers sees the attacking midfielder as a player who could offer competition for the outstanding Brazilian Philippe Coutinho, although the chances of Southampton being in a rush to sell him are slim.
Rodgers is looking to keep the momentum going for Liverpool after a good start and is keen to add to his side in January to ensure they can do that but Southampton will not want to sell, and with Lallana's current contract not running out until 2015 they have no reason to do so.
