Kenny Daglish is eyeing a double raid on the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen's Marko Marin and Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios.
The Anfield club made an unsuccessful move for Marin last summer, but hope a figure of £12million will be enough to persuade the club to part company with the Germany international.
Marin, 22 - who is also being tracked by Tottenham - made two appearances for his country at last summer's World Cup.
Meanwhile Barrios has reemerged as a target for Dalglish after it emerged the striker has fallen out with coach Jurgen Klopp to such an extent that he is no-longer guaranteed place in the starting XI.
Queens Park Rangers have also registered their interest but will only follow that up once they are guaranteed to remain in the Barclays Premier League.
The top flight pair would have to pay £10m for his services but will also explore loan-deal options before considering a permanent switch, according to the People.
The one major stumbling block though is Barrios' wages. He is currently pocketing a figure close to £100k-a-week - a figure that would even make Liverpool wary.
