Andrea Dossena has put an end to a miserable 18 months at Liverpool after completing his switch to Napoli on a four-year deal.
The Italian club have confirmed their acquisition - believed to be around £4million - on Friday after the player passed a medical before inking a deal which will keep him in the Campania region until 2014.
"I'm happy to wear the jersey of Napoli," Dossena, who could make his debut on Sunday at home to Sampdoria, told his new club's official website.
"I chose a prestigious club with an important project. I cannot wait to play in Sao Paolo stadium before an unbelievable crowd".
Dossena joined the Reds in the summer of 2008 in a reported £7million move from Serie A outfit Udinese and big things were expected about the Azzurri international left-back.
But the 28-year-old, brought in by Rafa Benitez as a direct replacement for fans' favourite John Arne Riise, failed to adapt to the vigorous nature of the Premier League and soon fell down the pecking order on Merseyside.
Fabio Aurelio fast became Liverpool's first choice left-back for the majority of last season and the emergence of young Argentine defender Emiliano Insua has seen the Italian's chances to impress at Anfield diminish further.
The former Verona and Treviso performer scored just one goal in 18 Premier League games in Liverpool's 4-1 win at Manchester United, and followed that with another strike in the 4-0 rout against Real Madrid in one of eight appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Reds.
