Newcastle United are braced for a Liverpool bid for French playmaker Yohan Cabaye, according to Sports Direct News.
The 27-year-old has been one of the most sought-after players in the league after arriving from Lille in 2011, being subject of a £10m bid from Arsenal on the eve of this season which was rejected by the Geordies as being 'disrespectful in both value and timing'.
Alan Pardew dropped Cabaye from the opening fixture, which they lost 4-0 at Arsenal, and the player himself refused to play in the following game against West Ham but has since come back into favour and scored an impressive long-range strike against the Reds when the clubs drew 2-2 at St James Park in October.
The Reds have been linked with Cabaye over a number of transfer windows and SportsDirectNews, the media arm of the company which own Newcastle United, now think Brendan Rodgers could be looking to make a move in January.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed Liverpool have not made a bid for striker Danny Ings but is steeling himself for potential interest from top-flight clubs, according to The Express.
The 21-year-old has already scored 16 times this season for the promotion-chasing Clarets, along with two strikes for the England U21s, and has played a major part in the fine start to the season the Lancashire side, who currently sit in the second place in the Championship, have made.
