Liverpool have been told that Petr Cech won't be available in January but the Chelsea keeper's agent says they could launch a bid to buy him next summer.

Cech, who is under contract until 2016, is unsettled in the capital having lost his status as Chelsea No 1 to Thibaut Courtois.

The 32-year-old Czech Republic international boasts a wealth of experience and would be the ideal solution to Liverpool's keeping troubles.

However, Chelsea have no intention of letting him leave next month as they want top-class cover for Courtois as they chase the Premier League crown.

Cech's agent Viktor Kolar said: "It's unlikely Petr will leave Chelsea in the January transfer window.

"The club and coach want to keep him to help win the title.

"I think Arsenal should have made an offer to him. I think Petr would be considering it.

"Liverpool need to strengthen their position in goal and they know Petr will be available in the summer."

One potential pitfall in any future move for Cech is Chelsea's reluctance to do business with the Reds.

Stung by the success of striker Daniel Sturridge following his £12million switch to Anfield, the Londoners refused to sell full-back Ryan Bertrand to Liverpool last summer.

Bertrand ended up joining Southampton on a season-long loan.
