Liverpool youngster Adam Morgan is eager for a chance to follow in the footsteps of fellow youngster like Raheem Sterling and take his place in the club's senior side.
A born-and-bred Liverpudlian, Morgan is one of the latest products of Liverpool's youth academy which has produced the likes of Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman - it is no coincidence that Morgan has been touted to take over the former as the club's go-to striker.
Ever since taking over at the club in the summer, manager Brendan Rodgers has continued to put stock into the club's youth players, drafting in youngsters like Raheem Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom into the first team, a move which has paid dividends after the youngsters impressed on the big stage.
Morgan, who was in Singapore for the NexLions Cup, revealed to ESPNSTAR.com the close attention Rodgers pays attention to the developing players and the constant encouragement he gives.
"There is constant communication - he speaks to us every day and he wants to know how we're doing and he goes to almost all the reserve games," he said.
"He says to us stuff like, "Keep working, because your chance will come," and that's because he has such great belief in the young lads, which is great for me and you can see in the first team now, the likes of Suso and Sterling are in there."
Morgan has already been involved in the senior side having travelled with the team to USA for their pre-season tour and he already has three Europa League appearances under his belt after making his competitive debut for the club against Hearts.
For the 18-year-old, playing for the senior is a boyhood dream fulfilled.
"Being a young lad for Liverpool, that was everything I wanted to do - just play for Liverpool, and I'm fortunate enough to do it, get a first team cap to my name, to play at Anfield," he added.
"I can't describe how it was really, to have your family in the crowd watching - it was fantastic.
"Yeah, I was so nervous - I think you could see I was nervous for the first five or ten minutes. I was a bit shakey on the ball, then I got a piece of advice off Gerrard and Suarez put his arm around me and said 'Don't worry about it'.
"A lot of youngsters are coming in and out of the first team, so the older players, they welcome you with open arms like everyone's knowing everyone at Liverpool. It's not like a separate thing."
With Liverpool needing reinforcements in the striker's department following Andry Carroll's loan departure to West Ham and Fabio Borini's long-term injury, Morgan is hopeful that he can break into the first-team set-up by the end of the season.
"I'd like to think I'm close [to breaking through to the first team]. Hopefully, I can make the first team before the season. I just want to play for Liverpool so hopefully I can make the jump to the first team."
