Liverpool have agreed a £12m deal for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno and the player is now set to be pulled out of tonight's Uefa Super Cup showdown with Real Madrid.
Anfield chief executive Ian Ayre finalised negotiations with the Spanish club in Cardiff today ahead of the showpiece game.
Moreno, 22, will now travel to Merseyside for a medical ahead of becoming manager Brendan Rodgers' latest summer signing after the captures of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Lazar Markovic, Divok Origi, Javier Manquillo and Emre Can.
Left-back has become a problem position for Liverpool following the knee injury sustained by Jose Enrique last season and Moreno will provide strong competition to his fellow Spaniard who has just returned from a lengthy spell out.
Quick and comfortable marauding forward, Moreno did not make the final cut for Spain's World Cup squad but has been likened to Barcelona's Jordi Alba.
He was expected to play his final game for Sevilla tonight against Real, but has now been pulled out to avoid injury and the prospect of the deal collapsing.
