LIVERPOOL are poised to make an offer for out-of-favour Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco.
Arsenal have also been linked with the 27-year-old, but Italian sources now claim the Gunners will have to fend off Liverpool's advances to land the Italian.
Liverpool's search for a striker has seen them linked with top names including Karim Benzema, Stephen El Shaarawy and Wilfried Bony.
And with Brendan Rodgers planning an assault in the Champions League next season, greater forward options and strength in depth will be a necessity.
A lack of first-team opportunities mixed with precious few goals leaves Giovinco looking certain to exit the Juventus Stadium this summer.
The winger has only started 17 Serie A matches this season, completing just over 60 per cent of those.
Juventus boss Antonio Conte prefers his prolific strike partnership of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez, who have netted 30 goals between them.
And with Giovinco's contract due to expire in the summer of 2015, his agent Claudio Pasqualin revealed that a move could be on the cards.
He said: "Sebastian still has one more year on his contract.
"We're just going to have to wait and see what happens.
"If the club come to us with an extension, then that's fine. But if not, we'll have a look round for other clubs."
