Manchester United and Liverpool could be set for a summer battle for Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva, according to reports from talkSPORT.
The 18-time Italy international has been in excellent form of late for the Rome-based club, but there are lingering doubts surrounding his future at the Stadio Olimpico due to ownership issues.
As it stands, the 27-year-old is part owned by Lazio and Udinese, and it is understood that the former are looking to tie up a full deal for his signature.
Rumours suggest that the remaining 50 per cent of his rights are available for £6.8m, but there is also speculation indicating that Candreva is looking for a big pay hike to make the move.
The versatile ace is said to be aiming to up his annual salary by around £750,000 after becoming aware of other interest.
United and Liverpool are two sides in the race, with both clubs thought to be more willing and able to match his demands than Lazio.
Juventus and Napoli are also keen, but selling to a non-domestic rival may be more preferable for both teams involved.
Candreva has netted eight Serie A goals in 30 outings this season.
