A giant jigsaw dedicated to the memory of the 96 Hillsborough victims was unveiled in Liverpool.
The artwork, which was created by 96 schoolchildren was showcased at All Saints RC Parish Centre, Anfield yesterday.
The Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG) backed the project and its chairman Margaret Aspinall told the ECHO: "The effort that the All Saints schoolchildren put into this is an honour to the 96 and their families. I look at the pieces and they mean so much to our families. I'm so proud of each child for what they have created."
Some of the pieces refer to sportsmanship, respect, safety and enjoyment.
Other pieces remember the 96 people who died in the 1989 tragedy and the unity between Liverpool and Everton.
Everton and Liverpool legends Graeme Sharp and Phil Neal attended the ceremony.
Neal said: "Seeing the children's togetherness was great."
Sharp added: "They want to remember the 96 people and that's important."
The idea came up when residents' group Community Old Barn Residents' Association and its chairman Ian Watt asked Liverpool City Council to think of ways to brighten up a run-down strip of land on Bala Street. The children designed their own creations and they were sent to Andrew Hooper at John Moores University's art and design department who burnt the words and images on to wood pieces.
Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Frank Prendergast officially unveiled the art work and he said: "The children can take great pride in their work and in years to come they can walk past it and say they were part of it."
The artwork will go on display at Liverpool museum and at John Lennon Airport before being permanently located on Bala Street.
The unveiling ceremony also heard children sing Believe and 96 red and white balloons were later launched into the Anfield sky.
