Adam Johnson, Manchester City’s fleet-of-foot winger, is set to be a January transfer target for Liverpool.
Roy Hodgson is known to be a huge fan of the gifted 23-year-old and is keen to add him to the squad to keep Liverpool's new-found momentum in the Premier League going.
Johnson said recently that he's feeling disillusioned with life at Eastlands and that has put Hodgson on alert for a swoop.
Johnson said: 'Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes,' he said.
'It is still early but I definitely would consider [leaving].'
Johnson cited the example of the goalless Manchester derby against City's bitter rivals United at Eastlands as a prime example of his frustrations.
The winger was introduced for the final 17 minutes, but failed to impose himself on the game as it petered out into a boredom-inducing snore-fest.
'It is disappointing when you are not playing from the start in games like that,' he told a newspaper.
'I was itching to get on. I was dying to play from the start not just come on.
'The manager has to make decisions but I was gutted to be left out.'
