Kenny Dalglish is considering handing derby specialist Dirk Kuyt a recall - but Steven Gerrard has warned against being given the same treatment by Fabio Capello for England's Euro 2012 decider next week.
Kuyt has lost his regular first-team role following the summer arrivals of midfielders Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing.
The Holland international hasn't started a Premier League match since the 1-0 defeat at Stoke City three weeks ago, although he has since played the full 90 minutes and scored in the Carling Cup win against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 31-year-old can boast five goals in derby games, including three at Goodison and the equaliser from the spot in the Anfield derby in January, Dalglish's first home game since replacing Roy Hodgson as manager that month.
And Dalglish has hinted heavily that Kuyt may have a significant involvement this afternoon.
"We just have to look to see what we have at this particular moment in time," said the Liverpool manager.
"If we were picking from the past, Rushie (Ian Rush) would be playing up front.
"Dirk has got a good record against Everton for the club. He obviously enjoys the game and they don't really enjoy playing against him.
"But it doesn't mean to say you are guaranteed a spot in the team."
