Liverpool and Manchester United will both miss out on Yann M'Vila this summer, according to Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi.
Reports in France have claimed that both Kenny Dalglish and Sir Alex Ferguson have been monitoring the player with a view to bringing him to England, but Dreossi has firmly shut the door.
"We will not listen to any offers for him. This has already been decided by the club and the player," talkSPORT quote Dreossi as saying.
"M'Vila will not be going anywhere, even more so after he signed on for another year."
However, both clubs could renew their interest in the French international next summer, with Dreossi going on to state that any move could now be put on hold until next summer
"If he leaves it will not be until summer 2012."
The news comes as a blow to Liverpool, who are believed to be monitoring a handful of players in the position this summer as Dalglish looks to strengthen his squad during the transfer window.
After securing the services of Jordan Henderson for a fee in the region of £16 million last week, the Reds chief is poised to continue his spending spree with a left back, winger and striker also thought to be on the Liverpool agenda.
Damien Comolli, director of football at Liverpool, is an admirer of the 20-year-old French international, and was thought to be working alongside Dalglish in trying to persuade M'Vila to make an Anfield switch.
The highly-rated defensive midfielder had previously revealed he was happy to be linked with Manchester United though, and appeared to give the green light for a move from the Old Trafford outfit back in March.
"Manchester United is the club of my dreams. It is a very prestigious club and I dream to play for them."
Mike Phelan, assistant manager at Manchester United, made a personal scouting check on the player at the time, but it now appears that his immediate future lies in Ligue 1 and not with the Red Devils or their arch-rivals Liverpool.
