Liverpool could bring in Greece right back Vasilis Torosidis to cover for injured England star Glen Johnson.
Anfield boss Rafa Benitez is short of options as he faces up to three months without Johnson, who tore medial ligaments in Tuesday's 1-0 win at Aston Villa.
Olympiakos defender Torosidis is said to be available for a knockdown fee, but Liverpool could face competition from Juventus and Atletico Madrid for his services.
Like Johnson, the 24-year-old is full back who likes to get forward. He is comfortable on either flank and, with 25 caps, is usually deployed at left back by Greece.
