Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign Real Madrid's versatile midfielder Esteban Granero as Kenny Dalglish looks for new blood to kick-start their misfiring season.
Granero, 24, can fill slots out wide or in the hole behind the main striker and Dalglish is hoping he can tempt the Spaniard into making a loan move to Anfield.
Competition for places in Jose Mourinho's starting XI is hot and Granero has had to spend much time waiting for opportunities behind Xabi Alonso who regularly gets the nod from the Real boss.
And while his performances are always well received, the Liverpool boss hopes the promise of a regular berth in his starting line-up could persuade him to make a temporary switch, according to the Mirror.
Granero is seen as a link-up player who could bring the best out of those around him and score the goals to boost the Reds woeful tally of 25 in the league this season.
The Scottish boss has stated he will not be spending any money in the current transfer window, but could turn to the loan market.
