Liverpool and Manchester City are set to lose out in the race for Lucas Barrios, with Real Madrid set to sign the Paraguayan strike star in January.
The Premier League duo have been linked with the Borussia Dortmund star, who has already scored eight goals in the Bundesliga this season, but the Bernabeu giants are at the head of the queue, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Argentine-born Barrios is in only his second season in Europe but his 27 goals in 47 games for Dortmund have convinced Madrid he is the man to bolster their attack, and they are ready to pay between €15-20 million for him.
If Barrios does move to Madrid, it could spell the end of Man City rebel Carlos Tevez's potential move to the Bernabeu.
