Liverpool mulling over shock raid on Arsenal

Liverpool are considering a shock move for Arsenal's Gael Clichy.

A left-back is a priority for Kenny Dalglish and the Reds have been alerted by Clichy's refusal to sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Arsenal may cash in on him this summer because he has only 12 months left on his deal - although boss Arsene Wenger would be loathe to lose the 25-year-old Frenchman to a top-of-the-table rival.

Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli believe they could land Clichy for a knockdown £6million.
