Liverpool will attempt to sign Tottenham Hotspur pair Roman Pavlyuchenko and Giovani dos Santos for £18 million during the January transfer window.
The pair could be making their way to Anfield as Roy Hodgson attempts to strengthen his squad following a disappointing start to the season.
Liverpool currently sit 16th in the Barclays Premier League after the first five games, while they also suffered an embarrassing defeat against Northampton Town earlier this week.
With star striker Fernando Torres currently out of form, Hodgson is desperately short of options up front, as David Ngog and Ryan Babel have yet to convince the manager.
Pavlyuchenko joined Spurs from Spartak Moscow after an impressive showing at Euro 2008 for Russia, but has found opportunities at White Hart Lane limited behind Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch.
Rumours have also spread surrounding the striker's attitude, with manager Harry Redknapp telling his marksman to work harder if he wants to get in the team.
Winger Giovani arrived from Barcelona with a promising reputation but has also had to settle for a place on the bench because of the form of Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon.
He was farmed out to Turkish side Galatasaray on loan last year as first-team appearances remained in short supply, however the Mexican international will be keen to get some playing time in the near future.
