Liverpool scouts were in the stands as Villarreal lost 1-2 to Sevilla on Saturday.

Although Villarreal midfielder Bruno Soriano has been drawing clubs to the Estadio El Madrigal this season, Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic is understood to be among Liverpool's targets.

The Croatia international has long been a target for English clubs, notably Everton, Tottenham and West Browmich Albion, and his goalscoring exploits keep attracting the scouts.

He has scored seven in 20 games this season and that has helped propel Sevilla to seventh.
