Liverpool will step up their efforts to land Mohamed Salah as soon as possible.

Brendan Rodgers had a meeting with Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry and chairman Tom Werner on Friday to discuss this transfer window and he has been told to press on with his attempts to sign Basle's Egypt international Salah.

They face competition from clubs in Spain and Germany but Rodgers knows that the midfielder is keen to join Liverpool if they can agree a fee.
