Metro: Cole and Lallana bids made

Liverpool have kick-started their summer transfer plans by reportedly making offers for England duo Adam Lallana and Ashley Cole.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been promised funds to add to his squad this summer, and he's wasting no time.

According to reports, a £20million offer has been lodged with Southampton for Lallana, who is enjoying a superb season at St Mary's.

Liverpool are keen to get this transfer done before the World Cup begins, so are expecting a quick answer on their bid.

They've also made a one-year contract offer to Ashley Cole, with the Chelsea full-back set to become a free agent this summer.

Liverpool hope to get the green light for both players early next week.
