Metro: PL giants in battle for Schalke winger

Arsenal will go head-to-head with Liverpool in the January transfer window to sign Schalke winger Leroy Sane, according to reports in Germany.

The 19-year-old has been in great form so far this term and has five goals in his 19 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

Having managed Dortmund for eight years, Liverpool boss Klopp knows all about Sane and reports earlier this week claimed the Reds are heavily interested in the winger.

Wenger, though, is pushing for the Premier League title and the Gunners' injury crisis means he's short in wide areas.

And SportBild say via SportWitness that the Gunners will now battle with Liverpool to sign the pacey winger but will need to pay significantly more than £10.7m.
