Liverpool and Tottenham have been given a boost in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain's Ezequiel Lavezzi just days ahead of the January transfer window.
Both clubs have been linked with the striker since the summer and could now be set to enter a bidding war next month, if reports in the Express are to be believed.
They suggest PSG are not preparing to offer Lavezzi a new contract, with his current deal set to expire in 18 months.
This means the 29-year-old could be available on the cheap, with the French champions having to slash their asking price before he is allowed to leave on a free transfer.
The Argentine is currently thought to be valued at around £17m, but Liverpool and Spurs, as well as Italian admirers Inter Milan, may go in with lower offers in the hope of landing a bargain.
