Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is playing hardball over his attempts to sign Basle winger Mohamed Salah.
Reports suggest the Swiss side are demanding up to £16million for the player dubbed 'the Egyptian Messi' - although some sources claim their asking price is closer to £12m.
Rodgers is believed to be ready to lodge a bid of between £8 and £10m for the classy 21-year-old, who has shone in this season's Champions League.
The Reds boss discussed the move with the Merseyside club's American owners John Henry and Tom Werner on Friday, and said of the discussions: "I am very happy with everything that has been said.
"They have been brilliant, and if there are players available we are able to do that sort of business - if they are available."
