Liverpool will run the rule over Mateo Kovacic this weekend as they ramp up their interest in one of Europe's most exciting young talents.
The Reds will send scouts to watch the 20-year-old play for his country Croatia against Norway on Saturday, after compiling reports on his performances for Inter Milan in recent weeks.
And while Italian media suggestions that the English club has already agreed a £22million deal with Inter for the attacking midfielder are wide of the mark, Liverpool ARE keen on him, and are finalising their scouting reports before entering the race.
Inter have made it clear they are ready to sell the brilliant youngster they bought from Dinamo Zagreb just two years ago for around £12million.
The Italian giants are struggling under the weight of a financial crisis this season, and have no chance of even qualifying for the Europa League after a campaign of mid-table mediocrity.Liverpool have made an attacking midfielder their number one priority in the summer, and Kovacic fits their profile perfectly.
Like Philippe Coutinho - who was also snatched from Inter - he is a young player with a huge reputation who has struggled for game time recently.
But they will have to pay, especially with Arsenal also interested. Inter have placed a €30m valuation on the player, which would equate to around £23million.
The Reds also want another striker in the summer, even with Belgium international Divock Origi arriving after his year long loan agreement with Lille.
They have been linked with Manchester City's out of favour Stevan Jovetic, but face competition from Roma, Juventus and AC Milan.
