Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will make a summer move for Cardiff defender Steven Caulker.
Rodgers gave him his Premier League break during a season-long loan at Swansea two years ago.
Tottenham have first option on buying back Caulker, as part of the deal they struck to sell the England player to the Bluebirds for £9million last summer.
But while Tim Sherwood wants him to return, the current manager is almost certain to leave White Hart Lane at the end of this season, and chairman Daniel Levy has reservations about bringing back Caulker.
The 22-year-old is sure to leave Cardiff if they are relegated after impressing this season, despite his side's struggle to avoid relegation.
But even then, he will not be available on the cheap - especially as Tottenham would bank 50 per cent of any profit.
