Mamadou Sakho has told Liverpool they are still to see the very best of him.

The 23-year-old has started every game for the Reds since joining them at the beginning of September in a multi-million pound deal from Paris Saint Germain.

Sahko has impressed Liverpool fans with the speed with which he has adapted to life in the Premier League.

But the 6'2" defender insists there is still plenty more to come from him this season.

"I'm not yet at 100 per cent, I'm progressing with each match that we have," Sakho said

"I work every day at training sessions to progress and to achieve the highest level. It's logical that I would improve.

"When you arrive in a country you don't know, you have to learn quickly about the differences in the game and have to get on and adapt yourself to the qualities of your team-mates."

Sahko's form for Liverpool has seen him recalled to the French national side.

The £15m centre-half was recalled by manager Didier Deschamps for the friendly with Australia and he made a second half appearance.

"Certainly it has made me happy to get my place back in the national team," Sahko added.

"I have to reach my own goals and I do everything to achieve those goals. I work every day and I'm super proud to be back with the national team that I'm a member of.

"One of the big goals for any player is to represent their country as well. I want to represent my country with pride, as all players would."

Sahko has played in a traditional centre-half role, at left-back and on the left hand side of a back three, since coming to the club.

The former PSG player played alongside Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel at Newcastle last weekend and says it is a formation he is comfortable with.

"It's not a problem for me," he reflected. "In the course of a match, you try to adapt to the system and style of play that's in use. Over the course of matches, you hope to be able to adapt to and dominate with a different system."
