Liverpool and Manchester City are facing a showdown over Birmingham's highly rated Nathan Redmond.
Redmond, 17, has two years left on his contract but, after appearing 15 times for Chris Hughton's side, has a clause allowing it to be renegotiated.
Birmingham would rate him in the same bracket as Arsenal youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined the Gunners from Southampton for an initial £6m fee, rising to a possible £10m.
