Speculation is rife that Liverpool are considering making a move for highly rated Feyenoord winger Georginio Wijnaldum this summer.
The teenage wide man has been a player the Anfield outfit has been monitoring for the best part of 18 months and recent comments from the youngster suggest that he has more than a passing interest in a move to Merseyside.
"Dirk Kuyt is my role model. He left Feyenoord when he was the best, I am not that far," said the player.
Apparently one sticking point may be the player's valuation and just how urgently the Eredivisie side need cash. Feyenoord are experiencing something of a slump in recent years and although they are improving on last season's seventh place finish they will still be 16 points short of the second placed spot that could have handed them Champions League football.
Coach Mario Been will not be too keen on losing such a talented player as Georginio but may well find it hard to prevent the youngster from having his head turned by talk of such a move. 18 months ago the Dutch Under 21 international was quoted as saying that he still needed time to grow in the Dutch leagues but now he may well be at that juncture in his career when a move away from his homeland would be ideal.
