Liverpool are preparing a bid for Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero, according to the player's agent.
The 24-year-old has found opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho and is keen to move to boost his chances of playing for Spain.
And Granero could join the Anfield club for £8million in the summer.
'He's finding his chances limited at Real,' his agent Teofilo Lazaro told the International Business Times.
'He's keen for a move away - possibly to Liverpool.
'If he can't play at Madrid then he'll play somewhere else. It's as simple as that.'
Mourinho is keen to move Granero on which could scupper Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish's chances of snapping him up.
While he won't leave Spain in January, the former Getafe player is willing to move to another club in La Liga.
Granero initially left Real Madrid in July 2008 in order to join Getafe, but following an impressive spell at Los Azulones, his former club exercised their buy-back option and he returned to the Bernabeu just a year later in a £4 million deal.
Arsenal have also been linked with a move.
